The latest version of the Fortran 90 prototype, tested with HDF5-1.2.2, is now available from the NCSA ftp server:
        ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/HDF/HDF5/fortran/

This prototype was tested on the following platforms:

          DEC Alpha OSF1 version 4.0
          IRIX64 6.5 (-64 bit option)
          IRIX64 6.5 (-64 bit option) parallel -- NOT fully tested **
          Linux RedHat 6.1, Kernel 2.2.12
          Solaris 2.6 and 2.7

**The parallel IRIX64 6.5 version was ONLY tested for "proof of concept".

Pre-compiled binaries are available for the platforms tested, under:

        ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/HDF/HDF5/fortran/bin/

The updated Reference Manual for the Fortran 90 API is also available:

In order to install and use this prototype, you must have the HDF5-1.2.2 and GZIP libraries installed. For your convenience we provide compiled GZIP libraries on the NCSA ftp server:
        ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/HDF/gzip/
